Chippenham Scouts to retrace steps of the Wiltshire Regiment

Chippenham Scouts set off on 21st August to spend 3 days walking the 40 mile route from Mons in Belgium to Le Cateau in France. Together with Scouts & Explorers from Belgium, Buckinghamshire, France & Germany they will retrace the route taken by the Wiltshire Regiment and where British Expeditionary Forces first saw action in the Great War.
The Scouts will then attend commemorative service at Le Cateau on Tuesday, August 26.
Chris Jones, leader of 10th Chippenham Scout Group, said: “The hope is the scouts attending from the four nations will come away with a better understanding of the sacrifices made 100 years ago and will take the opportunity to discuss their experiences with others in their respective village and town.”
The Scouts hope to raise £500 for charity. Donations can be made to the Royal British Legion
